A crooked lawyer??!! No Way.

Attorney Charged With Stealing Money From Law Firm
POSTED: 10:45 am EDT August 2, 2005

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The trial is under way for an attorney who formerly worked for a Harrisburg law firm. Steven Courtney is charged with the theft of several thousand dollars in fees that he allegedly collected from four clients and should have turned over to his employers.

His lawyer said the theft charges were engineered only after Courtney, who is gay, alleged that a male partner at the law firm had sexually harassed him. At the time, Courtney was working for Metzger, Wickersham, Knauss and Erb. He quit in 2002.

His lawyer didn't identify the law partner, and Dauphin County Deputy District Attorney Michael Sprow, in his opening statement, called the allegations a smoke screen. The prosecutor said the case has nothing to do with sexual harassment.
