1 |________________________________

Last weekend hundreds of you came out to celebrate Danger in
the second stage build-out of our new Brooklyn Crime Lab.

Some pictures from the event can be seen here:
http://www.wildwildbrooklyn.com

Thank you to everyone who made the event such an amazing
experience, from the random acts of kindness, to the dancing
on the rope bridge, to the Danger Blender, to the love of
the dance floor through late the next day. To the hundreds
of you who weren't able to RSVP in time we apologize for the
limitations on attendance. We had to severely limit the
RSVP's in order to satisfy the landlord and the local
police. But now that we have proved that events like that
can happen without anyone losing a finger, be prepared for
much larger forays into the wilds of Brooklyn.

In the meantime, our next public event is this Saturday.
See below for your invite to cleanse your soul with one wild
night of devilry...

A night of spiritual hedonism.

7pm to 7am
@ 69 West 14th St.
on the corner of 6th Ave., Manhattan
Details: http://www.newlostcity.com

In this era of empty truth, epic violence, and empire run
amok, we bring this night of hedonistic cleansing for your
salacious soul. For one night in Manhattan, join devils and
divas, Reverends and revolutionaries, and hysterical heretics
at the altar of beats, dance and irrational exuberance.

This is how we save ourselves.

Starting *live* in the room above:
With the infamous Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop
Shopping at 8:30pm with gospel songs and stories from the
recent nationwide tour converting consumers throughout
middle America. Then the grime gospel impresario Reverend
Vince and the Love Choir shake your soul to a degree that
must be heard to be believed, you will dance and yell
Hallelujah and love it. Later, God is My Copilot rounds it
out with a special show of new music mixing dance beats with
their classic outsider rock sound.

At midnight the music turns to breaks and intelligent techno
with Wolf + Lamb (www.wolflambmusic.com), Spinoza, DJ Ripley
(from San Francisco), Jason BK (Blackkat) and more creating
a pilgrimage of dance through sunrise.

In the room below:
Winkel Presents: The harem for lost souls, a cozy lounge

Tick and Hooka Mike, special elixir bar and video
projections. Plus roving performances of the lost vs. saved
curated by Akim Funk with costumes by C-Spot Designs.

This Saturday, bare your soul...

For you Angels: come dressed in your own manifestation of
purity, of delicacy, of the deviant angel and the yang over
yin. For this you will be rewarded with free drinks of our
Angel juice, vanilla gelato mixed with vanilla vodka or
Irish cream.

For the Devils, come dressed in your own manifestation of
the dark and the scandalous, the fallen angel with no
interest in return. For this you are rewarded with our own
special elixir of fire.

And yes, there is more... Full details will be released at
the end of the week.

Only $9 with a ticket bought at:

Danger! : Next they Come for You

Yes, we've been hosting allot of events lately, but we are
still focused on our outsider activist roots. In these cold
days of winter (or is it now spring?) we need these weekends
of excess in order to purge the mania building inside. Our
world is burning and our value system has been upended.
While the kings of Halliburton ravage Iraq for profits, the
local authorities have turned their attention to their most
feared threat. Activists.

Recently the New York Times had a front page article
detailing the obscene tactics of the police in infiltrating
activist groups to cause violence, confusion and dissension.
The full article is at:
http://www.infoshop.org/inews/article.php?story=2006nycpd2002
>
More pointedly is the Green Scare. Instead of focusing on
the threat from real terrorism, Federal authorities are
rounding up Eco Activists across the country with severe
penalties for non-violent crimes. See more at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Scare

We don't condone violence of any kind, but as these vicious
cycles continue we wonder what can be done to save ourselves
beyond innocent nights of escapism with the most creative
minds we know.

If you have other ideas on how to stay sane in a world gone
awry, send an email to complacent@complacent.org and let us know.

Alive and livid in the face of a Complacent Nation.

last night

Well, never made it to Marx last night! I got home from work at about 6:30 last night. walked in the door set my book bag down, set some rice on the stove, and went to go up stairs to change out of my work clothes and practice a couple of mixes before the night got started. No sooner had I started up the stairs, my blackberry goes off. It's someone from San Diego, and there all like, "the email server at location xxx is down we need you to go there right now." So I headed back to work and didn't leave until almost midnight. Fuckers. I'll be back with a vengeance next week. Mattb out.

man throws own severed penis at cops

What the shit yo?
Man severs own penis, throws it at officers

March 17, 2006

BY ERIC HERMAN Staff Reporter

Before cops threw the book at him, Jakub Fik threw something unusual at them -- his penis.

Fik, 33, cut off his own penis during a Northwest Side rampage Wednesday morning. When confronted by police, Fik hurled several knives and his severed organ at the officers, police said. Officers stunned him with a Taser and took him into custody.

"We took him out without any serious injury, with the exception of his own," said Chicago Police Sgt. Edward Dolan of the 16th District.

Doctors at Northwestern Memorial Hospital reattached Fik's penis Wednesday, sources said. He was listed in good condition Thursday, according to hospital spokesman Andrew Buchanan, who declined to comment further.

Smashing car windows

Fik, who lives in the 5400 block of W. Berenice, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of criminal damage to property, said Officer Laura Kubiak. He told paramedics he was distraught over problems with his girlfriend in Poland, Dolan said.

Police arrived on Fik's block at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday after receiving reports he was smashing car windows, Dolan said. Fik then broke into a house down the block. A group of six or seven officers assembled in front of the house, Dolan said.

The occupants were not home, he added. Fik was bleeding when the officers arrived and may have already cut off his organ, Dolan said.

"At that point, this guy came running out, naked, with a handful of knives . . . and started throwing knives at the police officers that were 10, 20, 30 feet away," Dolan said.

Fik threw his penis during the confrontation, too, Dolan said. He then went back into the house and re-emerged with "another handful of knives," Dolan said.

Dolan sneaked to the side of the bungalow's front steps and stunned Fik with the Taser. Fik fought back when officers went to restrain him, Dolan said.

"About 10 feet from the front porch, right on the sidewalk, was his penis," Dolan said.

Dr. Greg Bales, associate professor of urology at the University of Chicago, said severed penises are uncommon but surgery usually works. "As long as the penis is placed on ice and reattached within a few hours, the success is usually pretty good," Bales said.

rowdy and destructive, yet responsible.

I want to know how the windsheild became broken in the first place. Maybe some drunken spring breakers decided to smash it and then felt remoreseful afterwards? The world may never know. Somewheres there's a group of college kids snickering over this and lamenting the loss of their $200.
Vandal Leaves $200 to Fix Car Windshield

By The Associated Press Tue Mar 14, 10:35 PM ET

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas - Whoever broke retiree Charlotte Papenbrock's windshield has made her believe that Spring Breakers can be rowdy, but also genteel.

Papenbrock, a "Winter Texan" from Blue Springs, Mo., was dismayed to find that the rear windshield of her 2004 Buick was busted. "Initially, I was upset," she said in Tuesday's online edition of the Island Breeze. "It was really smashed in. There was glass everywhere."

She called police to report the crime, but in the end didn't need uniformed help. The mysterious perpetrator, presumed to be a Spring Breaker, left $200 worth of 20-dollar bills on the car's back seat, along with a note reading "Here you go. I'm sorry."

Papenbrock used the money to repair the windshield. "Tell those kids I'm very proud and their mothers would be too," Papenbrock said.

Marx Cafe tonight!

I'm very anxious to play tonight seeing as how last week I was stuck at work and never made it there. I have some new music to play, which I'm actually quite excited about. This one track in particular called "SpaceRider" is to die for. An extremly smooth and laid back 2step groove with some larger than life vocals. and there's only one place to hear it (that i know of).

weekend review

So I didn't do much this weekend at all. I went for a long bike ride on Saturday afternoon and then went to see Hideko the Bus Conductress at the Freer Gallery. During rest of the weekend I shopped at online record stores, practiced spinning and cooked some bean soup. Exciting huh? The film turned out to be excellent, a light hearted comedy set around a young woman working as a bus conductor. To compete with a rival bus line Hideko plans to start a tour guide service to entertain the riders and attract more customers. The film ends with the owner of the bus line becoming involved with mobsters, and at one point the owner tries to get the driver, a passenger (who happens to be the writer responsible for Hideko's tour guide script) and Hideko involved in some type of insurance scam. The scam backfires on the owner as the writer refuses to go along with it, as he's a key witness this causes the whole plot to unravel. In the end a lesson of truth and honesty is extracted from the situation. I was really taken aback by how funny the whole film was, not a lot happened plot wise, but the sum of all the details and side action were entertaining. I give it 4 out of a possible six stars.

APD officer nabbed on DWI charge
Last Update: 03/10/2006 8:13:01 AM
By: Todd Dukart

An Albuquerque police officer is accused of driving his patrol car drunk. Brandon Wilcox, 25, was arrested at his home early Thursday morning. Police say that Wilcox crashed his patrol car into two curbs on opposite sides of the street near the intersection of Comanche and San Mateo in northeast Albuquerque. He abandoned the car and walked just over half a mile to his home, where another officer found him passed out, according to a criminal complaint. A breath test showed Wilcox’s blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, police say.

He’s on paid administrative leave while an internal investigation is carried out. This investigation, police say, is on the fast track. Meanwhile, he also faces a criminal charge of aggravated DWI.

“Chief Schultz is well-documented on his zero tolerance to DWI, “ said APD spokesperson John Walsh, “and it shouldn’t be anybody’s surprise on what may occur out of this.”

Japanese movies 4 free.

Since I'm broke right now, I'm trying to come up with some interesting free things to do this weekend. Japanese film festival, i saw this in today's Express and thought it might be worth a shot. what you got?
Japanese Master Mikio Naruse

Revered in Japan alongside the work of such masters as Akira Kurosawa, Yasujiro Ozu, and Kenji Mizoguchi, the films of Mikio Naruse (1905–1969) are at last again available to Western audiences in a collaboration between AFI Silver Theatre, the Freer Gallery of Art, and the National Gallery of Art. Even though he directed the first Japanese sound film to find distribution in the United States (Wife, Be Like a Rose! 1935), Naruse remained largely unknown here throughout the sustained peak of his lengthy career. Despite championing by critics such as Susan Sontag, Phillip Lopate, and Donald Richie, it has been some twenty years since the last Naruse retrospective was held in this country.

Raised in poverty, Naruse became a director only after a long, trying apprenticeship. He specialized in shomin-geki, contemporary dramas about the poor and lower-middle classes. Naruse has been compared stylistically to his close friend Ozu and was drawn, like Mizoguchi, to stories focusing on women, but his films are tougher, edgier, and more modern than either. Kurosawa, Naruse's one-time assistant and great admirer, compared his film style to "a great river with a calm surface and a raging current in its depths."

Thanks to James Quandt, Cinematheque Ontario, the Japan Foundation, and Toho Co., Ltd., for making this touring retrospective possible. Special thanks go to Sarah Finklea, Janus Films.

Presentation of this retrospective at the Freer Gallery of Art is generously supported by Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc.

Film descriptions adapted from the Cinematheque Ontario, Film Forum, and the Pacific Film Archive. Films are in Japanese with English subtitles.

I think I'm going to try and make it to one of these this weekend.

Estonian Teenagers Fined $10 for Drunk Parties in President’s Palace

Created: 03.03.2006 16:18 MSK (GMT +3), Updated: 16:18 MSK, 3 hours 20 minutes ago

Estonian police have established participants of wild parties organized by teenage grand-daughters of the nation’s president in his house. The felons were fined $10 each, the Interfax news agency reported on Friday.

The agency quoted a police representative as saying that the law enforcers had established 14 underage persons who had violated Estonian laws on alcohol and tobacco during the parties at presidential palace. They were fined 120 Estonian crowns (about $10) each. Three adults involved in the same crime were fined 240 crowns ($20) each.

In January this year Estonian television ran a report that 13- and 14-year old grand-daughters of the Estonian President repeatedly organized parties for their friends in their grandfather’s residence palace. The first party took place on Oct. 1 when the girls invited about 50 guests, while their grandparents were away. Most of the youths now know the door codes of the palace, the Estonian media said.

Although presidential press secretary Eero Raun claims that the youths were only having fun in the president’s private apartments, a boy, who was invited to the party told journalists that the guests had been in the conference hall and could have read official documents. They also took pictures in the presidential sauna.

14 year old kids steal plane, have rough landing.

Dam that's some good joy riding!
Teenagers fly nest in stolen plane
By Chris Ayres

TWO teenage boys were arrested while running away from home — after stealing a plane. The 14-year-old joyriders took the single-engined Mooney M20C without permission from one of their parents. They were later forced to crash land in the Mojave desert. They narrowly missed the nearby towns of Palm Springs and Twentynine Palms, home to a large base of US Marines.

The theft was made possible by minimal security at Big Bear Airport, to the northeast of Los Angeles. It has no control tower and does not require pilots to check in with security. The boys, who have not been named, bypassed what safeguards there were by stealing keys for the airport, the hangar and the plane. Before the aircraft took off, two pilots became suspicious and called the police, but the squad cars arrived long after the aircraft’s wheels had left the runway.

Soon afterwards, the runaways were forced to ditch the aircraft in Joshua Tree National Park, escaping with only minor injuries. They were treated at the scene by a park ranger, before being taken to San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall. “The boys were shaken up and one had a cut on his forehead,” said Joe Zarki, a spokesman for the park.

The plane suffered damage to its fuselage, landing gear and propeller. It was disassembled and removed from the park, Mr Zarki said. “People sometimes do strange things,” he said. “I’m just glad that nobody was hurt and the boys are OK.” Cindy Beavers, a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said: “There was a disagreement between the boys and their parents, and [the boys] decided to run away.”

They were arrested on suspicion of stealing an aircraft as well as for burglary because they broke into the airport hangar. Neither of the boys had a pilot’s licence but the teenager who flew the aircraft had regularly flown with his father. It is thought that the boys were forced to crash land after discovering that there was only 90 minutes of fuel in the aircraft’s tanks.

marx last night

So, yeah, I ended up going to marx after all. It seems that Tuesday's follow a standard formula, I come home from work kinda tired and unruly from the abuse I suffer during the work day. I make a large supper for myself, eat and watch the news, maybe the simpsons or king of the hill, whatevers on really, HGTV, etc.. and invairably I'm falling asleep on the couch in half an hour or less. Then its, "I don't feel like going out tonight, bla blah, etc.. Like it's sooo much effort to get up and out. But something ends up inspiring me to get up and out. This is how it went last nite, it's 9:30 and I'm not feeling up to it, then Pete from the basement comes up and I show him my setup, mixer, cd decks and the like because he has been asking to see it. So I mix through a couple of songs, we open several beers and then I'm like oh shit, it's go time. And I'm out the door. Pete has been lending me his bike to make it up to marx, which has played a large part in getting me out the door. It's not tha far mind you, at all. at most it's a 20 minute walk, but it's sooo much easier just to hop o a bike and make it there in 8 minutes instead. It never seems as cold on the way back for some reason... So in short I'm hella glad that I did make it out last time cause it was rockin' up in thur, and I had some nifty toons to share that were well received, so all is good with what matters up at the marx. Hats off to Mike as well, class act. until next week!

McAfee's blunder; symantec plunder

Woah, this should be big news right now. Ever watch Mad Money on CNBC? I do. Jim Cramer is always pushing McAfee. Best of breed my ass. No, in reality it's the accounting firm that should bear the brunt of responsibility in this case, but also they should at the same time be thanked for being so forthright. As the misplaced disc was a back-up copy, it might have been easy for them to just make another copy and pretend it never happened. So who's this hot shot ace accounting exuctive tossing around sensitive data while on a plane? that's rockstar. Anyways.. Cramer should dump McAfee in favor of Symantec, BOOYYA Jim.
Auditor loses McAfee employee data
By Joris Evers
Staff Writer, CNET News.com
Published: February 23, 2006, 10:46 AM PST

An external auditor lost a CD with information on thousands of current and former McAfee employees, putting them at risk of identity fraud.

The disc was lost on Dec. 15 by Deloitte & Touche USA, McAfee spokeswoman Siobhan MacDermott said Thursday. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based security software company was first notified on Jan. 11, and on Jan. 30, it received particulars of the data that may have been on the CD, MacDermott said.

The disc contained personal details on all current U.S. and Canadian McAfee workers hired prior to April 2005 and on about 6,000 former employees in the same region, MacDermott said. (The security company currently has approximately 3,290 employees worldwide.) The information wasn't encrypted and potentially includes names, Social Security numbers and stock holdings in McAfee.

"We notified our current and former employees last week and the week before," MacDermott said. "We have no reason to believe that any of the information has been accessed, and we are proactively protecting McAfee current and former employees with credit monitoring services."

Deloitte & Touche confirmed the incident. "A Deloitte & Touche employee left an unlabelled backup CD in an airline seat pocket," a representative for the professional services firm said. "We are not aware of any unauthorized access to this data in the two months since the CD was lost."
In other news:

The McAfee incident is the latest in a string of data security breaches. In the last 12 months, more than 53 million personal records have been exposed in dozens of incidents, according to information compiled by the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse.

McAfee has arranged for past and present U.S. employees to receive free services for up to two years from credit reporting agency Equifax. Similar arrangements are being made with a credit monitoring provider for Canadian employees, MacDermott said.

Deloitte & Touche USA is a multibillion-dollar professional services firm that provides audit, tax, consulting and financial services.

GOT MARX?

Possibly no marx tonight. waiting on the final word.

Call your congressman!

Well ain't that fucked.
Congress Poised to Pass Bill Taking Away Right to Know What's in Your Food

Tell your Congressman or Congresswoman to vote "No" on House of Representatives Bill H.R. 4167, the "National Uniformity for Food Act"

The House of Representatives will vote this week on a controversial "national food uniformity" labeling law that will take away local government and states' power to require food safety food labels such as those required in California and other states on foods or beverages that are likely to cause cancer, birth defects, allergic reactions, or mercury poisoning. This bill would also prevent citizens in local municipalities and states from passing laws requiring that genetically engineered foods and ingredients such as Monsanto's recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH) be labeled.

The House will vote March 2, 2006 on a bill that would gut state food safety and labeling laws. H.R. 4167, the "National Uniformity for Food Act," lowers the bar on food safety by overturning state food safety laws that are not "identical" to federal law. Hundreds of state laws and regulations are at risk, including those governing the safety of milk, fish, and shellfish. The bill is being pushed by large supermarket chains and food manufacturers, spearheaded by the powerful Grocery Manufacturers of America.

Big food corporations and the biotech industry understand that consumers are more and more concerned about food safety, genetic engineering, and chemical-intensive agriculture, and are reading labels more closely. They understand that pesticide and mercury residues and hazardous technologies such as genetic engineering and food irradiation will be rejected if there are truthful labels required on food products. Industry-sponsored H.R. 4167 is gaining momentum and must be stopped! Act now! Preserve local and regional democracy and protect yourself and your family from unsafe food by sending an email or calling your Representative and urging them to vote "No" on H.R. 4167.

Please Take Action Now--Send a Message to Your Congress Member in the House of Representatives to Vote "No" on H.R. 4167

Russians like to eat dead humans.

Man, those wacky Russians are always up to something.
2 Cannibals Convicted of Murder After Cooking Russian Man for Dinner

Created: 27.02.2006 11:49 MSK (GMT +3), Updated: 14:53 MSK, 7 hours 7 minutes ago

MosNews

A court in Russia’s Far East convicted two men of murder after they killed and ate a man, sharing the meal with their girlfriends. The women were not prosecuted as cannibalism proper is not punishable under Russian criminal law.

The two men, residents of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, have been found guilty of murder, Interfax reported Monday, and sentenced them to 20 and 13 years in prison.

In October 2004 the two friends met a man at an alcohol kiosk. After a brief conversation, they killed him, dismembered his body and cooked it.

Then they invited their girlfriends to dinner, telling them the meat was dogs’ meat. The girls only learned what they had eaten after they finished the dinner.

However the girls who ate human flesh were not taken to court.

“The Russian legislation does not say anything about cannibalism,” the court said.

A similar trial took place in Kamchatka four years ago. Then, the group of criminals that killed and ate several people were sentenced to more than 20 years in prison each.

on this day...

Today is an important holiday in Estonia.
Estonian Declaration of Independence, 24 February 1918

MANIFESTO

To All The Peoples of Estonia

Never in the course of centuries have the Estonian people lost their ardent desire for Independence. From generation to generation Estonians have kept alive the secret hope that in spite of enslavement and oppression by other nations the time will come in Estonia ?when all splinters, at both end, will burst forth into flames? and when ?Kalev will come home to bring his children happiness.?

Now this time has arrived.

An unprecedented struggle of nations has destroyed the rotten foundations of the Russian Tsarist Empire. All over the Sarmatian plains ruinous anarchy is spreading, threatening to overwhelm in its wake all peoples living within the borders of the former Russian Empire. From the West the victorious armies of Germany are approaching in order to claim their share of Russia?s legacy and, above all, to take possession of the coastal territories of the Baltic Sea.

In this fateful hour the Estonian National Council, as the legal representative of our land and people, has, in unanimous agreement with Estonian democratic political parties and organizations, and by virtue of the right of self-determination of peoples, found it necessary to take the following decisive steps to shape the destiny of Estonian land and people.

What we do is secret

Who the fuck drinks ONE beer? Those things are like lays potato chips, you can't have just one. Especially if your Dick Cheney, a man with two DUIs under his belt and a reckless disregard for the law. of course he was drunk!
Sloshed: Journalist Says Secret Service Report Claims Cheney was Drunk
by Dave Lindorff Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006 at 8:45 AM
dlindorff@yahoo.com

And anyhow, what kind of a guy would shoot a friend, and then pack him off to the hospital and not go hang around the waiting room to see how he’s doing, instead of going home and having dinner and a drink?

The vice president was tanked when he confused his hunting companion, Texas Republican stalwart Harry Whittington, for a quail, according to Capital Hill Blue reporter and editor Doug Thompson.

In an article in Capital Hill Blue, Thompson, who worked for several key Republican members of Congress before going back into journalism and who appears to have excellent contacts on the Hill and in the White House, says the Secret Service agents who travel with and guard Cheney filed a written report saying the vice president was "clearly inebriated" at the time of the shooting.

The Secret Service report, according to Thompson, who says he spoke with people who've seen it, states that Cheney showed "visible signs" of impairment, such as slurred speech and erratic behavior.

This would put Cheney's inexcusable delay of a day in making the shooting public and also the even more inexcusable effort made by the owners of the ranch and the Cheney entourage to bar local sheriff's deputies from interviewing anyone, including the shooter himself, until the following day, in a different light.

All the nonsense about "needing to know what Whittington's condition was" before going public, or "wanting the ranch owners to be the ones" to tell the story, or about Cheney being too upset to talk about it are just so much bull. This was a case of ducking the law.

Hunting while drunk and shooting someone is a felony in Texas, and the vice president is escaping prosecution because he has the power to hide his crime and his reckless poor judgement.

It had always struck me as peculiar that Cheney, after shooting someone he describes as a friend, would not have gone to the hospital with him, and hung around there at least until learning that he was okay. But what did Cheney do? He went back to the Armstrong house after shipping Whittington off to the hospital in the ambulance that follows him everywhere, and had a drink (!) and a nice dinner.

I know Cheney has the public persona of being a cold bastard, but even heartless SOBs at least want to look like they care about their friends, so why would the vice president have not at least made a show of going to the hospital--unless he was unable to walk straight, and was afraid a local sheriff might get past his Secret Service guards with a breathalizer.

Cheney, it should be noted, has a reputation as a hard drinker (he has two DUI convictions on his record--one more than the president), and the belated admission that he'd had "one beer" before heading out on the hunt never seemed very credible.

Unfortunately, we're unlikely to see this story go very far, since the White House is unlikely to let the Secret Service report see the light of day. Still, if that report is out there, it's also unlikely that it will simply vanish. Sooner or later the story will come out.

Thompson also reports that the Secret Service confiscated all Whittington's blood tests from the hospital, making it impossible to know whether he also was drunk--a finding which would have cast further doubt on the vice president's sobriety at the time of the shooting.

The best that can be said of this whole sorry incident is that at least we're unlikely to have to hear any more moralizing from this sorry vice president.

By the way, compare our brave and noble VP's response to his own shooting of a friend to the way Franklin Roosevelt responded to someone being shot and injured during an attempt on his own life. This from Richey Hope of Hinsdale, IL, whose own grandfather was the shooting victim:

When Giuseppe Zangara, an anarchist and immigrant, emptied his revolver at President-elect FDR (during a motorcade in 1933), he wounded five people, including my great-grandfather, Mayor Anton J. Cermak of Chicago. Roosevelt had been speaking via microphone from the back of his open limousine to a crowd of about 15,000 at a park. Cermak had been speaking to FDR while standing on the running board, and fell wounded to the ground. The Secret Service, not even knowing the number of shooters, immediately started to drive off. Roosevelt looked back, saw Cermak on the ground, and courageously ordered the Secret Service to back up the car. FDR then had the Mayor, his one-time political enemy, placed in the back with him, and held him all the way to the hospital. What FDR did was especially brave when one considers that because of his lower paralysis he was, in effect, trapped in that open car.

Roosevelt went to the hospital with Cermak. Cheney shipped his victim off the the hospital and hung back at the ranch and had another drink and dinner by the fire.

Deadeye Dick had "other priorities" I guess, just like he did back during the Vietnam War, when others of his political convictions were signing up for duty.

keg party wrap-up, HOLL@!!!1

So the party was a great sucess, peep the photos here. We still have a half full keg, I'm slowly working on drinking the rest of it, but I am only one man. We managed to convince everybody at the party that it was Miller Lite, ha ha.. it wasn't! It was Busch Lite! I guess nobody figured it out or didn't care. The pictures includes many shots of people on the floor in various states of fucked-up-ed-ness. As you can see from the photos there was a lot of wrestling on the ground and people getting drawn on. The sushi I brought for the party went over real well, it was a HUGE platter (sorry no pics )-:) that I got from Kotobuki, well worth it and very delicious! We played nintendo games, duck hunt, mario, DR. Mario, mortal combat, etc.. Al in all I feel it lived up to the bar we set the last time we threw a shin-ding like this.

Dick Cheney and what he can do to make it right

So Dick Cheney shot someone in the face; why must this become another administration stumble? When did these supposed spin wizards loose the ability to manage the national conversation and keep everybody "on message"? There is a missed opportunity here; for the white house could turn this mishap into something positive if they weren’t concerned with saying as little as possible. The Vice President should start a hunting safety initiative, give a series of fireside chats on cable news TV, explain through the steady counsel of range safety experts, how accidents like this can be avoided. This new office would sponsor grass roots education efforts throughout America bent on encouraging youngsters to take up hunting, with a mind for safety and protocol. This is the kind of stuff the Boy Scouts and the NRA should be doing if were it not for all the lawsuits and gay scout masters consuming these organizations time and resources. Dick Cheney's little hunters club; or something like that. Ultimately I'd like to see a coloring book, with cartoon depictions of the VP demonstrating safe muzzle control, proper transportation of firearms, the correct way to hunt game birds when hunting with more than just two people, dog handling, etc... It'd be a heartfelt way for the VP to give something back to the electorate that has given so much in return.
Editorial: Cheney's actions blow against hunter safety

No, bird hunters don’t shoot each other all the time, regardless of what partisan hacks are saying in defense of Vice-President Dick Cheney.

The Vice President earned unwanted publicity after shooting a 78-year-old hunter in the face while hunting quail in south Texas. The hunter will recover, but the accident produced a secondary wound: the cause of hunter safety. A sample of just-another-day-in-the-woods punditry. Washington Times columnist Wes Pruden: “The Texas authorities are more bemused than interested, since such accidents are commonplace in bird-hunting country.” u A Salina, Kan., caller to Rush Limbaugh: “I’ve been shot before, and I’ve seen -- well, I’ve even shot a kid before. Not intentionally.” Rush’s response: “Thanks a lot for that professional input.”

Mark Steyn on the National Review’s The Corner weblog: “From an anecdotal survey of my part of the North Country, most guys see the Cheney business as an excuse to tell their own hunting stories, mostly of the been-there-done-(or-nearly-done)-that variety.”

Such are factually wrong and slander anyone who hunts. In 2004, Texas reported just 29 hunting accidents in a state that issues over 1 million hunting licenses. The overwhelming majority of hunters are extraordinarily careful. The Vice President is a conspicuous exception.

The Vice President himself didn’t help matters by waiting four days to accept any responsibility for what happened, during which time various spokesmen blamed the victim for not properly announcing his whereabouts. Nor did Cheney accept responsibility for failing to purchase the proper hunting stamp. He pinned that one on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Every year in Wisconsin, volunteer instructors devote many hours teaching the virtues of gun safety -- knowing one’s target, knowing what’s behind the target and knowing where one’s hunting partners are at all times. The scandal over the Cheney hunting accident isn’t that it took 21 hours for the accident to become public; it’s that a careless Vice-President and his media apologists complicated the task of hunter safety instructors and sullied the reputation of a noble sport. Hunting deserves better than that.

drunk n' fun for everybody

Last night at Marx was another night of fun n' games. Good tunes and good drinking were in great supply. OMG I'm so hung over right now, I didn't drag my sorry ass into the office until almost 11am today, I'm dragggging soo bad. Last nigt at marx this guy who I was talking too for a while was getting really drunk, it's my fault cause i was like, SHOTS! SHOTS! WE ALL MUST DO SHOTS OF JACK! COME EVERYBODY, what of course im buying! ha ha ha!. . . . then this guy started to slur his words real bad and then he fell off his bar stool and smashed a bar glass, beer and glass went everywhere. I'm not sure why mike gave him another beer. and he ordered another jack on the rocks after this happened, got that too. then he went to move an ashtray from the bar to where the wall he was leaning on was helping to stand him up and SMASH! ashtry bites it, two count! 5 minutes later... another bar glass was dropped by this loser, that makes three! mike (bartender at marx) kept trying to take his beer away everytime he set it down but when he did the drunk would reach reflexivly for the brew just before mike could snatch it. and this guy was wasted by now, wandering around aimlessly, trying to talk to people but not making any sense at all. pathetic. Eventually after breaking ANOTHER ashtray mike had the guy thrown out. after collecting his tab mind you. Anyways,... the music was on point last night, I played a sappy love song set, spinning out material that normally wouldn't get the chance to be heard save for the fact that it was a "holiday" of sorts last nite. then the guy who mike just booked for sunday nites went on to try out the setup, he borrored my headphones and went at it with a mix of spanish language rap, salsa and latino dance music. Damn the guy had some tigghhttt tunez, diamonds all around, a pleasure to hear. maybe I'll go to marx this sunday nite to hear this guy spin out the rest of his catalouge. awsome. i own tuesday nites, now to get some work done.

weather and the VPs anger issues

My sunday night gig never happened, the snow hath paralised the DC metro area and in response Japone closed up. Folks here in DC are big pussies whenever it snows. We got less than a foot, and it's melting as we speak. oh well. Max said we'll re-schedule, so be on the look out for a make up date.

In the news - The VP shot someone in the face, for real! the official story id that the victim accidently walked into the VPs line of fire just as he was sighting up some game birds. That sorta mumbo jumbo my fly over at the New York Times, but not around here. Ever seen the movie Goodfellas? I have. Remeber the part whre spider dies after making a smart remark to Tommy DeVito, aka Joe Peschi? and tommy dosen't like it so he shoots him, and then spider dies? I think something like that happened here, this Harry Whittington must have made some scarcastic remark about illegal wiretaps, or an administration run by incompetent criminals. The enraged Dick just happened to have a gun handy, and BLAMMO! one to the face, how do you like that, I don't hear you talking now that your face is full of buckshot! See normally whenever the VP becomes homicidal his staff is there to restrain him until the rage subsides, but this time he had a weapon handy and his knee jerk reaction, when faced with critism, is to try and either strangle or stab, or in this case just use a gun. Dman that was easy, it's a shame I can't use this at my new press conference. lol. nice one dick!

the other mile high club

I wonder if other passengers were knocking on the door and trying to get the flight staff to do something. "This guy has been in there for almost 20 minutes now, and I really have to go!" These planes have more than one wc these days, so I guess that it wasn't a really big deal until they landed. If I chose to hang myself, there would be some measure of satisfaction in rudely inconveniencing airline passengers like that. Lol.
Jet Lands in Denver After Apparent Suicide

DENVER

A man apparently hanged himself in an airplane lavatory during a flight that was diverted to Denver after his body was discovered, police said.

Denver medical examiner's spokeswoman Michelle Weiss-Samaras said an autopsy was planned for the body of Gerald Georgettis, 56, of Miami, which was found Wednesday on a United Airlines flight from Washington, D.C., to Los Angeles.

"Right now, everything leads us to believe the male involved did commit suicide," police Detective Virginia Lopez said. No other passengers were ever in danger, she added.

Man Hanging In Plane Lavatory Was Charged In Arson Case
Man Had Set Miami Auto Showroom On Fire Earlier, Police Say

POSTED: 5:35 am MST February 9, 2006
UPDATED: 10:49 am MST February 9, 2006

DENVER -- Police are investigating the apparent suicide of an airplane passenger that forced a Los Angeles-bound flight to divert to Denver. Authorities said a man was found hanging in a lavatory of the United Airlines flight Wednesday night.

The plane departed Washington, D.C., en route to LAX, but had to detour to Denver. Passengers were put on another plane before the flight took off again for California. The Denver medical examiner's office identified the man Thursday as Gerald Georgettis, 56, of Miami, Fla.

According to the Miami TV station WPLG, Georgettis was involved in an arson incident on Sunday at a Ford dealership in Miami. Miami-Dade police said Georgettis was upset about the price he paid for a new Ford Escape. According to police, Georgettis drove his vehicle into the showroom of Metro Ford, poured gasoline over the showroom and set it on fire. Contacted by the TV station the following day, Georgettis said it was a stupid thing to do and he regretted it.

Fire officials said the blaze scorched about a dozen cars, including a limited edition 2006 Ford GT Heritage. Only 250 of the cars that sell for $150,000 were made. Georgettis was charged with first-degree arson and felony criminal mischief in connection with the incident.

The station said he quit his job as a supervisor with the city of North Miami Beach the day after the television interview. He had managed and booked acts into the city's Performing Arts Theater for the last four years. It's not yet known how Georgettis got from Miami to Washington, D.C. for the flight, or why he was going to Los Angeles.

Curious George Collaborator Found Dead in Boynton Beach Driveway

2/8/2006 11pm report

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (AP) -- Police say the body of a collaborator on the children's book series Curious George was found in a Boynton Beach driveway.

Alan Shalleck's body was covered in black garbage bags in the driveway of his mobile home. Investigators say they received an anonymous 9-1-1 call yesterday morning but they haven't released details about the death.

The 76-year-old co-edited more than 28 Curious George books and helped write and direct 104 short film. The mischievous monkey, created in 1939 by Hans and Margret Rey, makes his big screen debut Friday in movie theaters nationwide.

Shalleck came to Florida in the early 1990s, working in the children's department of a Boynton Beach bookstore. There he created Gramps, the persona he used when reading to children. He created the company, Reading By GRAMPS, and made numerous public appearances at book stores and local events.

Man steals big rig full of perfume.

What a shame this guy didn't get away with this, how easier could it get with the keys still in the truck. Where would you sell it though, ebay? lol.
Tampa Man Charged with Taking Truck with $1.9 Million in Perfume

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (AP) -- Police didn't have to do much to sniff out this theft suspect. Felix Cabrera, 34, of Tampa, was charged with stealing a tractor-trailer carrying more than $1.9 million in perfume and cologne.

Cabrera took the vehicle from a Fort Pierce truck stop after the driver left the keys in the ignition, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office. The items were being driven from New York to Fort Lauderdale.

Authorities spotted the truck headed south on the turnpike near Boynton Beach about 10 a.m. Wednesday. Cabrera pulled over, ran from the truck and swam across a canal before being apprehended, police said.

He was charged with grand theft and resisting arrest.

marx last night

Marx was real fun last night. There was some guy I met there, he brought records with him, we tagged out for an hour or so. Then someone else was walking by, and happened to pop in right quick, and came back with some dubs. We had a real lab type atmosphere going on, it was good times and I didn't get too wasted. I think that's what I really dig about that place, no one really cares what sorta music is in the background, just as long as its groovy, not too loud and helps build the mood. While everybody is drinkin' and groving on the tunes I get to try out some new tunes for the first time. it's win/win!

Suez Canal all jammed up

I am waiting on my mixer to arrive, but I'm pretty sure that's being shipped from Texas and wont be traveling on a container ship through the Suez canal at any point during its journey. But what coud explain its abcense? dammnnt.. I want my mixer now!

Suez canal blocked by cargo ship

A cargo ship has blocked the Suez canal, jamming traffic in one of the world's busiest waterways. The 93,000-tonne Hong Kong-flagged ship drifted from its path and became wedged across the canal as it travelled from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean. Four tug boats had been sent to help pull the vessel free and ease the congestion, officials said.

The Suez is one of Egypt's main sources of revenue. Lost income is said to be $7m for each day the canal is shut. The incident happened at 1100 local time (0900 GMT) near the town of Ismailiya, Egyptian officials said. They said strong winds may have been a factor.

At least seven ships that were in the vessel's convoy remained blocked behind it and transit in both directions had to be stopped. Some 7.5% of world sea trade passes through the canal, which is 190km-long (118 miles) and 300m-wide (984ft) at its narrowest.

last nite; marx and an apartment fire.

MARX was real cool last night, it wasn't terribly crowded but there were some interesting people in attendance. I'm getting really bored with garage music; I think I have exhausted the p2p networks for spin worthy 2step. I have a friend who has a large collection; I'm hitting him up sometime this week to rummage through his hard drive for some new material. My mixing last night was horrible, really awful; I stumbled through nearly every transition and made several really stupid mistakes with the mixer. Seriously, learning on the job like this is not fun in the least, entirely nerve racking and not recommended. On the other hand I couldn't ask for a better environment, as no one there seems to notice or care, so it's kind of like my little lab. Nobody who said they were coming actually showed up last night!

On my way to the place last night, while trudging up 16th street I started to hear fire engines and police sirens in the distance, as I walked past the Woodner apartment building (the city’s largest apartment complex) there was smoke visible coming from one of the top floors, the lobby appeared to be smoky and there was a large crowd outside. I walked past the front of the building as the first couple of pump trucks arrived and fire fighters ran into the building. I really need to start carrying a camera with me. Looking for news items about the fire this morning I came across a DC Fire and EMS webpage with details of the blaze; can’t find any dc news outlets running anything about it. Looks like it was quickly contained and no one was seriously hurt. Good work DCFD!

Passenger freaks out, leaves plane

hmm.. No air marshall on board this time, he's lucky to be alive.
Man jumps out of plane onto tarmac at Fort Lauderdale Airport

The Associated Press
Posted January 23 2006, 9:35 PM EST

FORT LAUDERDALE -- A passenger on a commercial flight jumped out of the airplane as it prepared to take off Monday from Fort Lauderdale, authorities said.

Troy Rigby, 28, was detained on the tarmac by officers who used a stun gun to subdue him, said the Broward County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The Boeing 737 had been delayed for about 30 minutes and as it began to move toward the runway Rigby started yelling to get off. He ran to the front of the plane, and banged on windows and the cockpit door. As passengers and crew tried to restrain him Rigby bit a passenger, the sheriff's office said.

When the pilot depressurized the cabin Rigby opened a door and jumped out onto the tarmac, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies found him running toward the terminal and zapped with a stun gun after he resisted arrest. He was then taken to the Broward General Medical Center, but it was unclear if he was injured, the sheriff's office said.

Rigby will be charged with criminal mischief, criminal trespass, battery, resisting arrest with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer, in addition to an outstanding warrant for marijuana possession, the sheriff's office said.

Continental flight 408 was headed from the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport to a Newark, N.J. airport. The flight had been delayed after passengers boarded because of weather conditions in its flight path, airport spokesman Jim Reynolds said.

The plane was carrying 116 passengers and a crew of five. It was rescheduled for later Monday, Continental spokesman Martin DeLeon said.

wtf?

I was reading another blog that I tripped across today, and read this.
One answer as to why this demeaning trick works: women are predisposed to want to please people and earn everyone’s approval. And what the fuck is up with that, yo? This is the sense in which I actually value my bitchiness. Most of my friends say I came off as a stuck -up cold bitch when they first met me. I’m trying to cultivate that in a better direction; as in, letting people’s displeasure towards me roll off my back, because ultimately, I shouldn’t give a flying fuck if they like me.

But yes. I must say, that I do have to fight the urge to make everyone happy and like me. It was much worse when I was younger, when I wouldn’t be able to sleep if so-and-so was mad at me. I’m better about it now, but I still wonder if perhaps this is a biological thing? Or a socially influenced thing? On all women?

Why am I like this as well? Why am I such a fucking girl? I do this soooo much, If I find out that someone dosen't like me or someone snubs me or is rude to me on purpose it reallly bothers me. Messes up my whole day. But I'm spoussed to be a a guy, you know agressive and crude. but that's not me at all. and i know I'm straight, so i don't think that's the issue at all. So why can't I be brutish and controlling like other guys? I treat women with the respect that biology and society tells me that they don't deserve or want and it gets me nowheres contstantly. She goes on to talk about how if someone dosen't like her she then tries to please them even further, totally me too. For some reason if someone does something rude to me I seem to want to get to know them even more, and additionally it then weighs on my mind constantly. ERRGGHH!!! I need a drink.

yeah, yeah I know!

Ok just one more I promise and then I am done!

amazing dribbling

This is so rad that i couldn't help but share it! Enjoy.

this weekend

This weekend I'm going to skate as much as I can. Since I don't have any ID right now, I'm not going to be able to see the DNB LIB tour at cubik, which I'm pretty bummed about. So to find something interesting to do I'm going to hit the streets instead. I have to go check out the movie Tristan and Isolde as well cause I'm dying to see it. that's it, my weekend layed bare.

MARX CAFE tonight!

Hello! Sorry that I didn't do this earlier; I actually had to do things related to my job while at work today and it almost slipped my mind. I'm playing @ Marx cafe tonight! I have new music and no money again, so it might be a short night. As such I won’t be offering any drinks if you mention mattb's thought zone, instead I'll ask you who in their right mind would ever read this tripe. Seeya there!

redskins not going to superbowl.

Awwhhh... I'm real disappointed on this. They never should have kicked that missed field goal; they should have just gone for it on fourth down instead of trying to kick a field goal. Gibbs showed his balls earlier in the game when he went for it on fourth down instead of punting, why didn't he do the same when the team was in the red zone, when it really mattered? This continues the awful trend which the redskins routinely exhibit whereby they loose momentum during the third and fourth quarters of games. I thought that we were perhaps beyond that and the skins were in fact capable of sustaining a credible effort during the second half. and for awhile I thought that that was the case. But after I saw that failed field goal fly left of the uprights I knew at that point that our playoff hopes were spent and that we'll have to wait for the next season for a chance at the super bowl. Oh well. I will always love the redskins; they are my team through thick and thin. Once we have captured the Vince Lombardi trophy for another time, which will be a sweet day truly for all of us in DC. I tell ya, beating Dallas and Philly twice during the regular season as soooooooo sweet! I was there at FedEx field to witness in person the first Philly victory and it was quite awesome. Redskins’ football is crazy to watch. I can't believe that we put the hurt on Alexander so hard that he couldn't play anymore and after that they still lost. Oh well. I guess there's always next year.

I really hope that the bears go on to the super bowl. I think that they have a decent chance of defeating the panthers, which I truly detest.

Ya, know, I am very optimistic for next season. Joe Gibbs is 16-5 in the post season and he will certainly carry us to victory in the future. For he is our Joan of Arc, our Pancho Villa, our George Washington and our Richard the Lionhart. We’ll be back, for shizzle ma nizzle.

I have good news!

I got the worker bee award from Buzzlife in recognition of my promotional efforts. This is so cool!! I have been working for them for almost three years now and it's really gratifying to receive some formal recognition of my efforts. This party, Cubik, is the cornerstone of the DC clubbing experience and I'm proud to have had a hand in its continuing success. So yeah, I’m totally psyched on it, go Buzzlife and everybody go to Cubik and party it up while your there.

Additionally, if anyone who reads this space wants to go to nation nightclub on a Friday to the Cubik dance party, send an email to me and I’ll put you on the guest list so that it’s free for you! Also, be sure and tell all your friends about the Cubik party, it truly is something unique and should be enjoyed by everyone in the District of Columbia.

BOH!!

US tries to regulate space

no, no, no,.. :shakesheadindisgust:
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is attempting to regulate the commercial space industry in a bid to ensure minimum safety standards.

There should be an international framework, a global space agency with member nations that will draw up these regulations. Not the FAA. Much of what they are trying to do here strikes me as silly at first but I also realize they are planning for the future when commercial space travel matures into a larger industry that would then need to be regulated, but the United States FAA has no business trying to regulate something like this.

US draws up space tourism rules

Space tourists must be screened to ensure they are not terrorists, according to proposed regulations from the US Federal Aviation Administration.

The draft report's suggestions aim to prevent a terrorist from destroying a spacecraft or using it as a weapon.

However, the report has no strict proposals on the health of any would-be space tourists.

The suggestions will affect Sir Richard Branson's enterprise which aims to launch people into space this decade.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is attempting to regulate the commercial space industry in a bid to ensure minimum safety standards.

It has recommended security checks similar to those for airline passengers.

The public interest is served by creating a clear legal, regulatory, and safety regime for commercial human spaceflight
FAA

The FAA also suggests space tourism companies check the global "no-fly" list, from the US Homeland Security Department, to exclude potential terrorists.

"New technologies carry new risks. Nonetheless, Congress recognises that private industry has begun to develop commercial launch vehicles capable of carrying human beings into space, and greater private investment in these efforts will stimulate the nation's commercial space transportation industry as a whole," said the report.

"The public interest is served by creating a clear legal, regulatory, and safety regime for commercial human spaceflight."

Companies should give passengers safety advice including the number of flights the spacecraft has been on and any problems they have experienced with the craft, according to further recommendations in the report.

Space tourists should also be given pre-flight training to handle emergency situations such as a loss of cabin pressure or fire.

However, the FAA has so far left any medical requirements in the hands of the tourist, who should decide themselves if they are fit to fly.

The draft regulations could come into force soon, as the first space tourists have already made it into low orbit around the Earth.

In 2004, Burt Rutan witnessed the successful launch of SpaceShipOne, as his team won the $10m prize for having the first private ship to fly 100km above Earth's surface.

By the end of this decade, Virgin Galactic aims to take people into space from a spaceport in New Mexico.

After consulting the public, the FAA should publish its final report before June 2006.

marx tonite

Hey i don't think I'm going to do marx tonite. Feeling kind of under the weather, and I never got around to finding any quality tunes this weekend, and I have some important things to take care of at home.

On an unrelated note, what do you do when you have lost every form of ID know to man? Driver's license, social security card, birth certifacte, passport, etc.. Can i still get a basic ID from the DMV?

update: So I ended up going there anyways and just hanging out. The dude who schedules dj's for marx seemed real disappointed, and when I told him that I hadn't gotten any new music since last week he said I should have just played the stuff from two weeks ago. oh well. I'm going to make sure i have some fresh shit for next week.

heath ledger

From this......

to this.....

Does anyone else not find it absoultley fucking hillariously ironic that heath ledger is playing a gay cowboy in brokeback mountian and at the same time, often times right next door, staring as the epotime of renissance lovers in Cassanova?? The optimist in me would like to belive that this is mearly evidence of how fantasticaly forward our society has moved in recent years, or is this some type of awful studio accident that noone could have predicted?

could you kill your food?

some shit I wrote on the buzz board in response to a thread about the PETA employee who legally changed his name to KentuckyFriedCruelty.com. here's the link to the story.
ya know, it's hearing about things like this that are slowly beginning to change my thoughts concerning the practice of willfully abusing other creatures for sustenance. I really don't see any fundamental difference between the practice commonly referred to as "humanely slaughtering a chicken intended for human consumption” and something else like violently punting it across the room after ripping its wings and feathers all asunder before ramming a steel rod through its midsection and placing the tasty meal above a nicely stoked fire.

It's not like I am going to become a vegan tomorrow or the next day, but I am merely recognizing at face value the inherent cruelty that fuels life. It’s a simple fact that death enables life. If you believe otherwise, you’re either delusional or stupid.

Many people will gladly and without a hint of remorse or second thought consume a finely prepared dish of lamb shank at a five star restaurant, yet were the same individuals to find themselves presented with the breathing healthy animal, spices, sharp knives and a raging fire they would be entirely incapable of recreating the afore mentioned meal. That is utter hypocrisy in my mind. If you eat chicken mc-fuckin'-nugets at all you should be prepared to personally wring the life from the bird and prepare it, if otherwise don't do it at all.

Me personally; I don’t have a problem with it; I appreciate the fact that some toothless yokel in an Arkansas factory farm has taken all the work out of my chicken strips. I think these are questions every person should consider for themselves.

I got a new bike, i think.

I'm the leading bidder! It's just like my stolen bike cept it has a buncha upgraded parts, new wheels, chain, etc. I can't wait to get it in the mail! I also bought a $100 Dolche & Gabana track suit for lounging around the house.

No-one better try and snipe this auction, I'm staying here at work until it closes to ensure I'm riding around town by this time next week. Weee!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI....

update: Fuck, I got outbid on the bike. This sucks, less the shipping charges I was literally outbid by $1. I messaged the high bidder and offered him $50 to drop the auction in my favor, but nothing doing. This sucks. Perhaps I should have actually stayed at work until it closed like I said I would, instead of going shopping at the giants for caviar and cheese (no joke there, among other things that's what I bought). Fuck. I doubt I'll see another bike like that for sale anytime soon. Ya know; I almost knew this would happen.. Me screaming earlier about how no-one better snipe me on this auction, well it happened. This is a lesson that I have to learn and soon! I would go on and on about instances over the past three years where my instincts screamed out to me at times and I merely shrugged them off, and as such the consequences I felt were immense and then later I was like, "wow, if only I had listened to my initial gut reaction on this, I wouldn't be here now". Fuckers, all. Ya hear?

YEAHHHH!!!

MARX was rather chill last nite. I spun out some atroucious garrage music and some particularly putrid house. I closed with some instrumental jamican dance music that noone appreciated. Some random hipster looking doofus asked me to turn it down and in response I punched him in the face while rudely fondling his date.

Ok, so it didn't really go like that at all. It went well, I got some compliments from a chunky woman who said her name was kate. The new tuesday bartender there, replacing my roomate Tom, i think his name is Mike, oh he's the owner to boot is a real chill guy. had one too many beers and I'm barely functioning here at work today, and I didn't make it in until 12, ouch my fucking head.

Can you believe that shit with the miners in PA? I left marx thinking that they were all found alive only to get the tragic news that this wasn't the case at all. I was so drunk and stupid at that point that I started to cry for them, i balled like a little girl i tell ya, and it felt good.

update: oh yeah, my card cleared thank god. i guess that possibly could have endangered me playing there in the future, "hey that's the bum that couldn't cover his tab last week" you get the idea. my consertation while mike ran the card was imense, then he handed me the recipet and i knew all was well. whew.... good times.

MARX is on tonite!

Yeah, first Tuesday at MARX for the 06! 3203 Mount Pleasent Street, I'll be playing from 11-12. I'm psyched, got some new tunes and no money. No free drinks on me tonight. I really hate banks. In this day and age it's ridiculous that I have to wait till Wachovia’s computers "update" (whatever the fuck that means). Since I made my deposit on Saturday, not a "business day", my account wont reflects the new money until tonight, sometime after midnight. Is it too risky to start running up a large bar tab, on the chance that I'll actually be able to pay it after the money hopefully clears? Yup, that's how we do things here. So at 2am tonight when I go to clear out my tab and the check card bounces on what will probably be at least $60. What do I do then? I don't know, hopefully I won't have to find out.

I really think this business day thing is a scam by the banks, or they need to overhaul their data infrastructure. Is there really any practical reason why a bank ever needs to close? I don't necessarily mean the brick n' mortar bank, as it would hardly make sense to staff the counters at all hours of the night, but shouldn't the electronic machinery keep the books open? If someone wires me money from somewhere remote it would be nice to see that reflected on an ATM receipt a couple of minutes later. I guess I’m asking for too much, it’s enough that every 5th deposit isn’t lost outright, without the bank employees managing to correctly spell their own last names. I realize that this problem isn’t limited to just Wachovia, that just happens to be my financial institution of choice. Although I have been thinking of switching to PNC, maybe I should capitalize on this groundswell of frustration I’m feeling here and switch banks. Like I said I would expect the same performance from any other bank, but if I were to change banks I could ad that to my growing list of 06 accomplishments, it’s called “Things I should have done last year”. Oops, time to get back to work.

Oh yeah, mention my blog and get a free drink, maybe.

NFLs first drop kick since 1941.

I'm trying to find video of this. Records have been broken in the 06, flutie dropkicks it!
Flutie Hits NFL's 1st Drop Kick Since '41
The Associated Press

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. Jan 1, 2006 — Doug Flutie added another oddity to his football resume on Sunday when he converted a drop kick in the fourth quarter of the New England Patriots' game against the Miami Dolphins.

It was the league's first drop kick since the 1941 NFL championship game, according to the web site for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

With starting quarterback Tom Brady sitting out most of the season-ending game, backup Matt Cassel threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Tim Dwight to cut Miami's lead to 25-19 with 6:10 left in the game. Flutie, who was listed as the No. 3 QB, came in for the extra point and lined up at quarterback.

After a timeout, Flutie took the snap, dropped the ball and kicked it off a short hop through the uprights for one point. He ran off the field and embraced coach Bill Belichick.

According to the Hall of Fame site, Chicago's Ray "Scooter" McLean converted the last drop kick in the Bears' 37-9 victory over the New York Giants on Dec. 21, 1941.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Well, 06 is going well so far, but it's still way to early to be able to tell if 06 will be better than 05, cause 05 was a bad year, so looking forward from here it's easy to assume that 06 will be better than 05. Cause for me and probably a third of the people I know agree that 05 really tested us all and broke the mold for rotten experiences. Perhaps in the future we will look back and see that 06 succeeded in sucking less than 05. I think that this is the best we can hope for. I know that 06 will invariably be filled with it's own special mistakes, accidents, intentional tragedies and terrific failures, so in light of this I will take heart in the knowledge that 06 will be able by comparison to improve our outlook if only through such lucid judgment and bent logic.
